Notable Weekday Series:
LA Dodgers at Brewers—
LA remains in the NL Wildcard race. The road trip hasn’t started out too good losing three of four at Pittsburgh and now some concerns about Kershaws backs.
Milwaukee sits six games under .500 as they meet LA on Tuesday. They took two of three at home to Washington entering his series.
Rangers at Yankees—
Rangers win a wet and wild one to open this series on Monday in a game delayed by rain finishing at 2:12AM. Most wins of any team in baseball with 50 already as they took the field on Tuesday.
Yankees fell to one game under .500 with the loss on Monday. They beat the Twins over the weekend in two of three.
Giants at Athletics—
San Francisco holds a 7 game lead over the Dodgers after losing Game 1 of this interleague series at home on Monday. They have won seven of ten and are a threat to overtake the Cubs for best record in the NL.
Athletics moved to 33-43 with the win but are 4-1 on this road trip after winning 3 of 4 at the Angels over the weekend.
Notable Weekend Series:
Indians at Blue Jays—
Cleveland behind a solid starting staff sits in first place in the AL Central at 45-30. They were in a tight one with Atlanta on Tuesday looking for their 11th straight win.
Toronto sits 5 ½ back of Baltimore in the AL East. They look to break a two game losing streak at Colorado on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Tigers at Rays—
Tigers were a streaking team until they got swept at home to Cleveland in three straight to fall to .500. They are hosting Miami on Tuesday.
Tampa Bay has fallen 11 games under .500 as they hosted Boston on Tuesday. They broke an 11 game losing streak with a 13-7 home win to the Red Sox on Monday.
Angels at Red Sox—
Angels season grim as the team is 18 back of Texas with a mark of 32-45. They have lost seven of eight after dropping a 4-2 home decision to Houston. It has been a bad home stand.
Red Sox are down 4 ½ in the standings to the Orioles as they play at the Rays on Tuesday losers of three straight and six of eight.
White Sox at Astros—
White Sox sit at 38-38 and lost major ground in the AL Central this month. They are now 7 ½ back of the Indians as they are hosting Minnesota on Tuesday.
Houston at 40-37 is now in the Wildcard hunt playing better ball of late. With their win at the Angels on Monday the Astros have won eight of nine games.
Orioles at Mariners—
First place Baltimore is 45-30 at San Diego on Tuesday with a five game win streak. They are tops in the Major in homers and fourth in batting average.
Mariners at 38-38 are still only three games in the loss column out of a Wildcard spot. The division leaders in the AL have some distance leaving the rest around .500. The Mariners returned home and took two of three to St Louis.
Cubs at Mets—
Cubs have the same wins as the Giants entering play on Tuesday. They are still 10 up on the Cardinals. They had dropped six of seven before winning 11-8 at Cincinnati on Monday.
Mets are 4 back of the Nationals entering play on Tuesday with a two game losing streak after dropping an 11-4 decision at the Nationals on Monday.
Giants at Diamondbacks—
We talked Giants already
D’Backs sit at 36-43 as the team hosts the Phillies on Tuesday losers of three straight. They have allowed eight or greater runs in the past four games.
Yankees at Padres—
We talked Yankees already
San Diego is 33-44 and eight games out of wildcard contention. They are 13-23 against the NL West as the Giants have owned them. They took 3 of 4 at Cincinnati over the weekend.
Royals at Phillies—
KC is five back of Cleveland at 40-35. They are in action on Tuesday hosting St Louis on a two game win streak.
Phillies have faded badly after a good start. The team is 33-45and have dropped eight of ten games.
Rockies at Dodgers—
We talked Dodgers already
Colorado is in Wildcard contention at 37-39. They have won three straight. Question is can pitching hold up throughout the season as bullpen gets taxed deeper and deeper into the season.
