Notable Mid-Week Series:
Mets at Dodgers–
Mets fall to 10 ½ back of Nationals and further behind in the Wildcard race after losing Game 1 on Monday for their fourth loss in five games.
LA is hot as the weather they are playing in. They have won and gone over the total in 9 of their past 10 games. They are now sixth in MLB in runs scored at 5.04 per game. LA pitching best in Team ERA and WHIP.
Angels at Yankees—
Entering Tuesday the Angels are 10-10 since missing Mike Trout. They stand at 36-37 which puts them four games in the loss column for the last AL Wildcard spot.
New York Yankees return home after a 1-6 road trip. They get swept in a four game series at Oakland. They left home on a high with Aaron Judge hitting towering home runs.
Indians at Orioles—
Cleveland sits atop the AL Central at 37-31 by 2 ½ games as they have won six straight. They swept the Twins over the weekend in a four game series they beat Baltimore in the opener on Monday.
The Orioles sit at 34-35 after dropping their 12-0 home decision to the Indians Monday. They are 30th last in MLB in Team ERA and WHIP. Incredible the Orioles have allowed double digit runs in five of their past ten games.
Diamondbacks at Rockies—
Arizona is just a game back of Colorado in the NL West. They are 26-9 at home. They are winners of seven straight and nine of ten after sweeping the Phillies over the weekend.
Colorado tied with LA in the loss column in the NL West. Rockies are 25-13 on the road. They recovered well after a brief slump to win five straight as they sweep the Giants in a four game series at home over the weekend. They are in tough with a midweek series with the Diamondbacks starting Tuesday.
Notable Weekend Series:
Cubs at Marlins—
Cubs are even in the loss column with first place Milwaukee in the NL Central. After beating Pittsburgh two of three over the weekend they come home and edge San Diego 3-2 on Monday. They bat .238 ranking 29th in MLB.
Marlins 10 back of Washington in the NL East and they are further behind in the NL Wildcard race. They have won four of six after beating Washington 8-7 on Monday at home.
Pirates at Cardinals—
Both teams are six games under .500 entering Tuesday but only five back in the NL Central. Pittsburgh has won six of nine after beating Milwaukee 8-1 on Monday. Offense has been inconsistent as the Pirates average 4.24 runs per game which is 25th in MLB.
St Louis is only 18-18 at home. They have dropped five of six after losing two of three at Baltimore over the weekend. Their pitching staff has been getting lit up in that span.
Rockies at Dodgers—
We talked Dodgers and Rockies already.
Big series. LA good at home and the Rockies are good on the road.
Rangers at Yankees—
We talked Yankees already
Texas is in the hunt for AL Wildcard at 34-35 on the season. They bat .242 as a team which is 25th in MLB. They have dropped two straight after losing 7-6 at home to Toronto on Monday.
Angels at Red Sox—
We talked Angels already
With the Yankees slumping the Red Sox are now just two games in the loss column back of New York. Pitching has held up for Boston but the Red Sox lack power on offense.
Astros at Mariners—
Houston holds a 12 game lead in the NL West. They are dealing with injuries to starting pitching who throw a lot of curve balls. Offensively Houston is third in runs scored and tops in team batting.
Seattle at 35-37 have won two straight after beating Detroit 6-2 at home on Monday. King Felix is close to returning to the starting rotation. Ariel Miranda has been good but has had two bad outings over his past ten starts.
Twins at Indians—
We talked Indians already
Minnesota has fallen to second place in the AL Central after getting swept in four games at home to Cleveland. They have dropped eight of ten. Bullpen is a major issue. Twins are 28th in Team ERA at 4.97 on the season.
Orioles at Rays—
We talked Orioles already
Tampa Bay is quietly a player in the AL Wildcard and only four back of the Yankees in the AL East. The team has power sitting second in home runs. Team ERA is 4.09 which is 8th best in MLB.
