Notable Mid-Week Series:
Interleague Week
Bud Black Firing
Cardinals at Twins:
Cardinals hacking scandal against Astros hit the news this week. Team sits 6 games atop the NL Central over Pittsburgh. They are 19-8 against the NL Central and own the best Team ERA in baseball at 2.64.
Twins fell to just five games over .500 heading into Tuesday with a recent slide. The offense has gone ice cold in their streak of eight losses over ten games.
Mets at Blue Jays:
Blue Jays 11 game win streak snapped on Monday. Just two games back of Tampa Bay heading into play on Tuesday. Their offense is piling up just enough runs to win some high scoring games. At some point the pitching will need to come around.
Mets sit in first place at 35-30 but fans in NY still aren’t satisfied with the many holes with this team.
Rays at Nationals:
The Pitching is carrying this Tampa Bay team right now as they lead the AL East. Team is on a four game win streak heading into Tuesday.
The Nationals are hovering around .500 because they are not getting consistent pitching from their staff like last year.
Notable Weekend Series:
Pirates at Nationals:
We talked about the Nationals already
Pirates quietly playing some good baseball with a five game win streak heading into Tuesday. They own the #2 Team ERA in baseball at 2.79.
Mets at Braves:
We talked Mets already
Braves two games under.500 entering Tuesday. Starter Williams Perez has lifted the team. They need better from Julio Teheran.
Giants at Dodgers:
The Giants have been a streaky team. They have lost ground to the Dodgers sitting 3 ½ back after getting swept over the weekend to the Diamondbacks. They scored just three games in the four game series against an improving Arizona team.
The Dodgers are still trying to find the formula for scoring runs on the road. They are 12-17 away from Dodgers Stadium. Puig has returned to the LA lineup.
Tigers at Yankees:
Tigers sit three back of KC entering Tuesday. After a bad losing streak two weeks back the team has won six of eight entering Tuesday with the offense and pitching correcting.
Yankees have had some struggles to begin this road trip loser of three of four through Monday. They are fourth in both runs scored (4.57 per game) and homers (79) on the season.
Orioles at Blue Jays:
We talked Blue Jays already
Orioles at 32-31 through Monday just three back in the AL East as they have won seven of their past eight games. They have been good on this home stand hitting the Red Sox and Yankees.
Red Sox at Royals:
Boston a major disappointment sitting 11 games under .500 heading into Tuesday and 9 back of Tampa Bay. They are 10-21 against the AL East and have lost seven straight after Monday’s loss to Atlanta.
KC holds a 2 ½ game lead over the Twins. They swept Minnesota in a three game series on the road they lose two straight at St Louis over the weekend. They are still struggling to runs.
Rangers at White Sox:
Rangers are 2 ½ back of Houston in the AL West as it’s a Lone Star State race. The Rangers are 3rd in the MLB with 4.58 runs per game. Prince Fielder is putting up great numbers. Starters Nicholas Martinez, Chi Chi Gonzalez, Wandy Rodriguez and Yovani Gallardo are contributing nicely.
White Sox manager Robin Ventura should start feeling the heat now that we saw a manager go down in San Diego. They are in last place in the AL Central and losers of four straight after an 11-0 loss at Pittsburgh on Monday.
Cubs at Twins:
We talked Twins already.
Cubs are 34-27 and are battling in a tight Wild Card race. The pitching staff had a good week as the club has won six of eight through Monday.
