Thursday August 28th

6PM ET–Texas A&M at South Carolina (SEC)—
Texas A&M -10 ½ with a total of 57 points.
Battle in the summer to replace Johnny Manziel between freshman Kyle Allen and sophomore Kenny Hill. Must replace six starters on offense.
Connor Shaw exits South Carolina but Dylan Thompson saw work last season. Leading rusher Mike Davis returns after rushing for nearly 1200 yards a season ago. Offense returns eight starters.

8PM ET—Mississippi vs Boise St (ESPN)—(Georgia Dome)
Mississippi -10 with a total of 56 points.
New era at Boise St as Bryan Harsin takes over as head coach. Grant Hedrick a senior quarterback returns under center. The defense has fallen off a bit as the club went 8-5 a year ago.
Ole Miss comes of an 8-5 season a year ago. Nine starters back on defense. Bo Wallace returns and is now a senior under center. Wallace works hard but just can’t win games against the giants of the SEC as he just falls short.

Friday August 29th

7PM ET—BYU at Connecticut (ESPN)—
BYU -16 ½ with a total of 51 points.
I like this BYU team. Taysom Hill battled accuracy issues early but improved big time late in the season. This Cougars club could make some noise this year and could be a giant sleeper. Bronco Mendenhall has 8 starters back on offense but must replace five starters on defense.
Connecticut has fallen under hard times of late. A bad offense led to a 3-9 mark a season ago. Bod Diaco enters his first season as head coach for the Huskies.

9PM ET—Colorado St at Colorado (FOX1)—
Colorado -3 with a total of 64 points.
Colorado St was a bowl team that earned a win against Washington St in the New Mexico Bowl last year and finished 8-6. This is a team that had no more than four wins the prior four seasons. QB and leading receivers are back but the high turnover on the offensive line.
Colorado improved three games to 4-8 after a one win season in 2012. 16 starters are back for the Buffaloes. Six year bowl drought.

10:30PM ET—UNLV at Arizona (ESPN)—
Arizona -23 with a total of 60 points.
UNLV had an easy schedule and got to 7-5 at the end of the regular season. Quarterback play was spotty with Nick Sherry but losing running back Tim Cornett is a huge loss.
Arizona made a pair of bowl games under Rich Rodriguez and won each one. There were the lower tier brand bowls and the question is can Rich Rod make a run at a PAC 12 South title? They must replace the quarterback and their top running backs.

Saturday August 30th—
12PM ET–UCLA at Virginia (ESPN)—
UCLA -21 ½ points with a total of 59 points.
The offense is in good hands with junior quarterback Brett Hundley. They get Oregon, USC and Stanford at home this year. Toughest road tests are at Washington and Arizona St.
Mike London enters his fifth year with the school. Things looked promising after an 8-5 mark in 2011 but back to back losing seasons including a 2-10 record puts him on the hot seat. The team gave up too many points against ACC foes a season ago.

4PM ET–Arkansas at Auburn (SEC)—
Auburn -21 ½ points with a total of 57 ½ points.
Can Bret Bielema’s system survive in the SEC? He comes off an 3 win season in 2013. Most of his playmakers are back on offense but you got to wonder about their confidence after going 0-9 in their final nine games and failing to beat an SEC opponent.
Gus Malzahn has the club pointing in the right direction after a 12-2 season and a trip to the national title game in 2013. Blew a big lead to Florida St and we will see if there is a hangover. Senior quarterback Nick Marshall returns under center.

3:30PM ET–Alabama vs West Virginia (ABC)—(Georgia Dome)
Alabama -26 points with a total of 55 points.
The Crimson Tide always loses tons of starters to the NFL. Now they must break in a new quarterback as AJ McCarron exits the program. Their big road test is at LSU.
Dana Holgorsen is on the hot seat after a 4-8 season in 2013. The offense was very inconsistent while the defense gave up tons of points.

5:30PM ET–Clemson at Georgia (ESPN)—
Georgia -7 ½ points with a total of 57 ½ points.

Five starters back for Clemson on offense as they say goodbye to Taj Boyd and Sammy Wadkins as well as their leading running back.
Aaron Murray exits Georgia for the NFL as Hutson Mason goes under center. They are experienced on defense with eight starters back. Todd Gurley returns as do their receivers and tight ends.
