Thursday September 1st—
South Carolina at Vanderbilt—
Vanderbilt -4 1/2 –O/U 42 ½ points
Will Muschamp makes his debut as head coach for the Gamecocks who are coming off a 3-9 record. Offense plummeted a season ago as the team pushed across 22 points per game. They had trouble stopping the run the past two seasons.
Vanderbilt has gone back to the old Vanderbilt where they struggle big time for offensive scoring. Quarterback play was dismal last season.
Friday September 2nd—
8PM ET—Colorado St at Colorado (E)
Colorado -8 with O/U 57 points
Colorado looks to be on the improve. They beat Colorado St by a field goal in OT last year. Quarterback Sefo Liufao can make plays downfield and are an experienced team with two starters loss in each side of the ball.
The Rams were a bowl team last year. Their junior quarterback Nick Stevens his back after a 2015 campaign where he struck for 21 touchdowns.
9PM ET—Kansas St at Stanford (FS1)
Stanford -15 ½ points with O/U 48 ½ points
Jessie Ertz is looking for better luck in 2016 for Kansas St as the signal caller was the starter last year for just one play as he got hurt after rushing for five yards.
Rose Bowl champion Stanford will have Heisman candidate Christian McCaffrey back in the running back position. He is dual threat in the run and pass plus special teams. Junior Keller Chyst is the new starting quarterback.
Saturday September 3rd—
12PM ET—Oklahoma at Houston (ABC)
Oklahoma -12 with O/U 68
The Sooners have Baker Mayfield back under center and their stud running back Samaje Perine. They were tops in scoring last year pushing across 43.5 points per game.
Houston earned a spot in the Peach Bowl as season ago and beat Florida St 38-24. They took a hit with losing a total of half the team’s starters. They were poor defending the pass last season.
3:30PM ET—UCLA vs. Texas A&M (CBS)
Texas A&M -3 with O/U 53
UCLA is hoping for better defensive production. When Myles Jack was lost for the year the defense suddenly couldn’t stop anyone. Quarterback Josh Rosen is now a sophomore and needs to improve under pressure of the pass rush.
Texas A&M has been a mess at starting quarterback since Johnny Football left for the NFL. It looks like they go transfer with Trevor Knight from Oklahoma. The offensive production nose-dived last year.
3:30PM ET—LSU vs. Wisconsin (ABC)
LSU -10 with O/U 44 ½
Game played at Green Bay. LSU is always about the quarterback play. They own the best runner in the country in Leonard Fournette and still couldn’t get the passing game going.
Paul Chryst led the Badgers to the Holiday bowl and they beat USC. The quarterback spot was being competed for. Wisconsin was second a year ago in total defense giving up 268 yards per game.
5:30PM ET—North Carolina vs. Georgia (ESPN)
Georgia -2 ½ with O/U 56
Kirby Smart takes over Georgia. He was to turn around the passing game that was 104th ranked.
North Carolina has experience in the wide receiver position for first year starter Mitch Trubisky. They have a solid back in Elijah Hood.
9PM ET—USC vs. Alabama (ABC)
Alabama -11 ½ with O/U 53 ½ points
USC was a mess last year with an 8-6 record. Not many have confidence in head coach Clay Helton. The 2015 backup Max Browne is the teams starting quarterback. USC had difficulty in pass coverage allowing 251 yards passing per game which was 94th in all of college football.
The defending national champion reloads in 2016. There is a completion at quarterback with young playmakers.
9PM ET—Clemson vs. Auburn (ESPN)
Clemson -7 ½ with O/U 62 ½ points
Clemson is loaded on offense with plenty of experience. They put up 40 on Alabama in the championship game a year ago. DeShaun Watson is tabbed for the NFL as he is a junior signal caller this year. He threw for over 4100 yards and 35 touchdowns.
Auburn beat Memphis in their bowl game to finish 7-6. Guz Malzahn has to feel the pressure. The team lost five starters on each side of the ball. The passing game struggled for the Tigers as they fell to 111th in the country.
Sunday September 4th-
Notre Dame at Texas (ABC)
Notre Dame -3 with O/U 60
Whoever starters at quarterback for Notre Dame should have a solid running back to fall back on. The Fighting Irish crushed the Longhorns last year 38-3 at home.
Head coach Charlie Strong needs to improve enough from a 5-7 record in 2015 to keep his job. Tyrone Swoops is battling with Steve Buechele a freshman for the quarterback position. When you thought Texas back in the day you thought defense. Not anymore as they fell to 107th in the nation in 2015.
Monday September 5th-
Mississippi at Florida St
Florida St -4 with O/U 57
Mississippi is coming off a Sugar blowout victory over Oklahoma St. Chad Kelly returns at quarterback after putting up some solid numbers. The team needs to improve on the 105th ranked passing defense from 2015.
The Seminoles will go with a freshman at quarterback in DeOndre Francois. But the good news is running back Dalvin Cook is back as well as the playmakers in the passing game.
Quick Hitters will follow as we pick out random games from the schedule
