Thursday August 31st, 2017—
8PM ET—Ohio St at Indiana (ESPN)
Ohio St -20.5 with over under 58
That 31-0 loss to Clemson has marinated with Urban Meyer and this program all offseason. JT Barrett a senior quarterback for the Buckeyes with experience on offense.
Tom Allen first year head coach for Indiana has to face Ohio St. Senior quarterback Richard Lagow was hurt with the interception. Experience on defense with nine starters back.
Friday September 1st, 2017—
9PM ET—Utah St at Wisconsin (ESPN)
Wisconsin -28.5 with over under 52
Alex Hornibook is in his sophomore season for the Badgers with experience on offense. Defense has been outstanding for two seasons.
Aggies suffered a down season in 2016 at 3-9 overall after being a bowl team for five straight seasons. Kent Myers returns for his senior year at quarterback but has an inexperienced offensive line. Utah St’s defensive line are all first year starters. Team struggled for offense putting up 24 points a game last year.
Saturday September 2nd, 2017
12PM ET—Maryland at Texas (FS1)
Texas -18.5 with over under 56
Maryland was a bowl team last year finishing 6-6 then losing to Boston College in the Quick Lane Bowl. They break in a first year starting quarterback for an offense that struggled for points last year. Team allowed 30 points a game last year.
Texas welcomes head coach Tom Herman to the program with Shane Buechele at quarterback for his sophomore season. Longhorns are an experienced team with seven back on offense and ten to the defense. But their defense allowed 448 yards per game.
3PM ET—South Carolina at NC State (ESPN)
NC State -5 with over under 52.5
South Carolina was a bowl team last year that pulled a home upset to Tennessee last year. Their offense struggled late against Florida and Clemson. Jake Bentley returns as starting quarterback.
NC State is an experienced team with nine back on offense and eight to a defense that finished at 7-6 last year. Ryan Finley is a Boise St transfer at QB. Wolfpack was good defensively limiting teams to 22.8 a game.
3:30PM ET—Florida vs. Michigan (ABC)
Michigan -3.5 with over under of 45.
Game played in Arlington Texas
Florida has suspension issues entering the opener. Question marks at who will start at quarterback. Gators are experienced on offense and inexperienced on defense. They scored just 23.9 points per game last year.
Michigan is replacing 7 on offense and 10 on defense. Wilton Speight started last year at quarterback but Jim Harbaugh isn’t releasing any info on who will play.
8PM ET—Alabama vs. Florida St (ABC)
Alabama -7 with over under 49
Game played at Atlanta
Crimson Tide has quarterback Jalen Hurts back and running back Bo Scarbrough. The offensive line returns four of five starters. Alabama has five back on defense but always reloads with elite talent.
Deondre Francois the sophomore quarterback is back for Florida St. The team is experienced on defense with nine starters back. Pass defense must be better than last year.
9:30PM ET—LSU vs. BYU (ESPN)
LSU -16 with over under 48
Game played at Superdome
LSU is like a broken record over the past few seasons with poor quarterback play hampering the teams chances for a playoff spot. Danny Etling is a senior quarterback but he does have the talented running back Derrius Guice. But if Etling cant complete passes against Alabama then Guice is ineffective in their big game.
Tanner Mangum saw action with Taysum Hill sitting out games due to injury the past two seasons. Mangum is now the starter and the team is 1-0 after beating Portland St last week but failing to cover the spread.
Sunday September 3rd, 2017
7:30PM ET—Texas A&M at UCLA (FS1)
UCLA -3.5 with over under 56.5
Hot weather this week in So Cal with temperatures hitting triple digits. Josh Rosen was struck with injuries for UCLA at quarterback last year. Team was just 4-8 last year as the offense struggled without Rosen.
Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin enters with great pressure after an 8-5 season. No starting QB named yet. Aggies beat the Bruins 31-24 in overtime last year.
7:30PM ET—West Virginia vs. Virginia Tech (ABC)
Virginia Tech -4 with over under 51.5
Game played at Fed Ex Field
An inexperienced West Virginia Team with five starters back on offense and three to the defense. Will Grier a Florida transfer will start at quarterback.
Virginia Tech will start a freshman quarterback Joshua Johnson. Offense has improved last year for the Hokies with 35 points and 445 yards a game.
Monday September 4th, 2017
8PM ET—Tennessee vs. Georgia Tech (ESPN)
Tennessee -3 with over under 56
Game played at Atlanta
Head coach Butch Jones wont name a starting quarterback. Whoever gets the start will have an experienced offensive line. Defense will need to be better as the team gave up 449 yards per game.
Georgia Tech breaks in a new starter at QB but he will have an experienced backfield and wide receiver corps. Last year they held teams to 24 points a game despite giving up 402 yards per game. They won four straight to close the year with wins against Virginia Tech and Georgia on the road and to Kentucky in their bowl game.
