Big Ten Conference East Previews:

Indiana Hoosiers: 4-8 overall 2014 and 1-7 in Big Ten.
Indiana was just handing the ball off last year with a slew of quarterback injuries. Somehow they upset Missouri on the road early last year. Nate Sudfeld returns at quarterback and is healthy.
Their road schedule is at Wake Forest, Penn St, Michigan St, Maryland and Purdue. They are home to Ohio St. The non-conference for Indians has games against Southern Illinois, FIU and Western Kentucky at home with Wake Forest on the road.
A big loss for the Hoosiers was running back Tevin Coleman who is now in the pros. He ran for 2036 yards last year. UAB transfer Jordan Howards comes in and ran for 1587 last year.
Regular Season Win Total: 6
Maryland Terrapins: 7-6 overall in 2014 and 4-4 in the Big Ten
The team fell to Stanford 45-21 in the Foster Farms Bowl last year. It is Randy Edsall’s fifth year with Maryland. The team has just six returning starters on offense and four to the defense.
Their road schedule will be at West Virginia, Ohio St, Iowa, Michigan St and Rutgers. They are home to Wisconsin as well as Michigan. Maryland’s non-conference opponents include Richmond, Bowling Green and USF at home with a road game at West Virginia. With C.J. Brown out of eligibility it looks like Caleb Brown will start at quarterback. The team ran for just 3.7 yards a carry last year. Defensively the Terrapins allowed 30 points a game in 2014.
Regular Season Win Total: 4 1/2
Michigan Wolverines: 5-7 overall in 2014 and 3-5 in the Big Ten.
Jim Harbaugh takes over as head coach. Looks like Iowa transfer Jake Rudock will get the start. De’Veon Smith ran effectively to help the Wolverines average 4.6 yards on the ground last year. Their O-Line is experience and hopefully the team will be better on third down. We saw huge improvement from the defense which allowed 22 points a game.
The Wolverines have road games at Utah, Maryland, Minnesota, Indiana and Penn St. They are home to Ohio St and Michigan St. Michigan in the non-conference has home games to Oregon St and BYU with a tough road test at Utah.
Regular Season Win Total: 7 ½ wins
Michigan St Spartans: 11-2 overall in 2014 and 7-1 in the Big Ten.

Their losses came against Oregon and Ohio St who happened to meet in the NCAA National Championship Game. They had a big comeback victory against Baylor winning 42-41 in the Cotton Bowl. They return 14 starters from last year with seven on each side of the ball.
The team has road games at Western Michigan, Rutgers, Michigan, Nebraska and Ohio St. They are home to Penn St. In the non-conference the Spartans have home games to Oregon, Air Force and Central Michigan.
They will have senior Connor Cook at the quarterback position. They lose their top two running backs in Jeremy Langford and Nick Hill. Their top two receivers also depart the program. Michigan St is strong at the defensive line position.
Regular Season Win Total: 9 1/2
Ohio St Buckeyes: 13-1 overall in 2014 and 8-0 in the Big Ten.
The team is 28-3 under Urban Meyer. They have seven starters on each side of the ball back in 2014. The Buckeyes have road games at Virginia Tech, Indiana, Rutgers, Illinois and Michigan. They get Michigan St at home. In the non-conference Ohio St faces Hawaii, Northern Illinois and Western Michigan at home.
Who will start at QB? Will it be Braxton Miller, J.T. Barrett or Cardale Jones. Running back Ezekiel Elliot returns as he had nearly 7 yards a carry last year. Ohio St has four starting O-Lineman return from a year ago. They are stacked in the wide receiver position. Defensively the team has greatly improved under Meyer each year.
Regular Season Win Total: 11 1/2
Penn St Nittany Lions: 7-6 overall in 2014 and 2-6 in the Big Ten.
They finished the year with a 31-30 victory against Boston College in the Pinstripe Bowl. The team returns 15 starters from a year ago.
Penn St had road games at Temple, Ohio St, Northwestern and Michigan St. They are home to Michigan. In the non-conference the Nittany Lions host Buffalo, San Diego St and Army. The Nittany Lions offense struggled last year producing just 20 points per game. Christian Hackenberg returns under center. The team struggled on the ground in 2014 with an inexperienced offensive line as they produced just 2.9 yards per carry. The defense was outstanding for Penn St last year as they allowed just 18.6 points per game along with 279 yards.
Regular Season Win Total: 7 1/2
Rutgers Scarlett Knights: 8-5 overall in 2014 and 3-5 in the Big Ten.
In the Quick Lane Bowl the Scarlett Knights earned a 40-21 victory against North Carolina. The team has just ten starters back from 2014. They had trouble in their step up games last year. The Rutgers road games are at Penn St, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan and Army. They are home to Ohio St, Michigan St and Nebraska. Their home non-conference games are to Norfolk St, Washington St and Kansas. Gary Nova leaves and it’s a battle between Chris Laviano and LSU transfer Hayden Rettig. They must replace three starters on the offensive line and have just five returning starters on defense.

Regular Season Win Total: 5
